A Letter From Our Chairman

As all of you are aware, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have devastated the Gulf Coast Region. Entire cities and communities are destroyed, lives lost, families uprooted and relocated, personal possessions lost forever. The networks' news coverage has shown you photos of the devastation in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas and it is a bleak picture you see now.

We continue to keep our council members, delegates, apprentices, families and friends affected by these hurricanes in our thoughts and prayers and we ask that you do the same. The rebuilding process will take months. In time we will be better than ever and, to demonstrate this, the Louisiana Host Committee will host the Conference in Baton Rouge as scheduled.

All systems are go for the 2006 Southern States Apprenticeship Conference. The Labor/Management Council met in Baton Rouge on February 04, 2006, and we found everything in order. The Host Committee has been working since before the hurricanes and they have an exciting informative conference planned for all of us. The 2006 Southern States Apprenticeship Conference is scheduled for June 20, 21, 22, and 23, 2006 at the Sheraton in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Our first mailing for the 2006 Conference with all the information regarding schedules, hotel rooms, meetings, and activities will be mailed out the first of February 2006 and will also be posted on our website.  Update Contact Info »»

The Labor/Management Council Members encourage each of you to support our Apprenticeship Conference by recruiting those who work with Apprenticeship training in your area to come to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and participate in the conference. We all have a common goal of preparing tomorrow's workforce and the more we have working together to accomplish this goal, the better our programs will become.  2006 Conference Info »»
